I told myself that I would try to get a complete skeleton. And one day it reached me that a man from the people of Ras Beirut had died and been buried in a grave in the sand. So I arranged with one of my friends that we would go and steal it, and we took along a man and his trusted companion to unearth and carry the corpse. We went three or four days after the death and we figured that the corpse had been placed in a coffin so it would be easy to move as it was, so we went after midnight like frightened thieves, unearthing a number of graves as we had mistaken the location of the grave we sought, though we had gone by day to ascertain its location, and finally we found them though not buried in coffins. So we carried what we could of the bones for dawn had come upon us and returned frightened. No one at the college knew what we had done but my friend. The next morning people saw the open graves and accused the students of the college but did not find out who had done it.43
